Geocache Description:

HINT: Print off this cache as a worksheet. A good park with many good trails but you may encounter some mud when raining. Wear good boots and appropriate clothing. No need to jump fences or leave the park boundaries, although the final cache location may seem like you are out of bounds, but you are not. Some brambles may be encountered. The sign at the first stage has changed the information needed for that stage is 745!

You will need a compass to solve this cache. A calculator would be very helpful but it is not necessary. Allow at least two hours to comfortably do this. HOWEVER, I would be interested to see how fast one can do it. OK extreme dudes & dudettes, the challenge has been thrown out there. It may be too much for children under 7 years of age but, otherwise not too bad. It’s also a great place to run your dog so bring the leash and the obligatory poop baggy. The theme was Infantry (military) toys so bring similar if you can, but not neccessary. Start: Park your car here N 49* 01.005 W 122* 28.243 Take trail going E from here until you reach N 49* 00.901 W122* 28.141 (1) Once here you will encounter a single post with numbers, answer these to get the next three digits in the following. Use the second number on the sign in the first blank space below, then double the first number on the sign for the second space below, use the last number shown on the sign as the third number in the blank space below. __ __ __ .... B Then go to N 49* 00.850 W 122* 28.110 .....Z ii) What year was the Dale McNabb Observatory dedicated? The original building and plaque is gone and was a place a local club came to see the contellations etc. Sad to see the parks people have decided to remove it and for no apparant reason other than to spend money foolishly within the park. You will find a small cammo on a tree with the answer inside. Do not remove from tree please and watch this is a muggle area. As you reach the contaner you will cross a flat open gravel area which was the observatory. Year: __ __ __ __ For “decimal minutes” North subtract 1026 from your answer in (ii) For “minutes” West subtract 719 from the answer in (1) For “decimal minutes” West subtract 1046 from your answer in (ii) N49* 00. __ __ __ W122* __ __. __ __ __ At these co-ords how many large rocks are there? __. Using this answer as a base number... Add 28 to get your missing North co-ords. Add 23 to get your missing West “minutes” and for the “decimal minutes” add 26. Always start with the base number. N 49* 00. 8 ___ ___ W122* ___ ___. ___ ___ 8 ...........................S...............P Once here find out how many Fish are pictured here as endangered species? ____. Add 3 to this number and multiply by 105 for the next co-ords. N 49* 00. __ __ __ W122* 26.964 At this post how many small signs are attached here? ___ - 1, Multiply the answer ___ x 4 = _____ then subtract this from the decimal minutes of the N co-ords above N 49* 00. __ __ __ then multiply ___ x 17 = __ __ __ and add this to minutes and decimal minutes of the West co-ords W122* 2 __ .___ ___ ___ ............. A....D....G....G From this waypoint head 60 meters @ 240* and look for stump with a hole in the center on the west (left) side. in the center of the stump is a micro-cache with co-ords for your next waypoint. Use the co-ords written on the container.(Re hide well) N___ ___* ___ ___. ___ ___ ___ ...........................................R W___ ___ ___* ___ ___.___ ___ ___ To these co-ords add 6 to the north and subtract 35 from the West co-ords. N ___.___* ___ ___. ___ ___ ___ W ___.___* ___ ___. ___ ___ ___ This will bring you another place to gather more info. Hint: Look at about the 4 foot level, last coniferous from the trail for a cammo'd micro with the final co-ords. (When this cache was first developed, there was a weather tower inside a fence in the "bowl" to the north and the 10 digit number was an emergency number. Now it's just another odd waypoint and many wonder why stop here. I guess when you change the park that many times it's hard to maintain caches built on what seemed to be permanent objects) At this waypoint the ten digit number posted here is ___ ___ ___ - ___ ___ ___ - ___ ___ ___ ___ ..1....2....3.......4....5....6.......7.....8....9.....9 Using the corresponding numbers plug them into the lower blank spaces for the final cache. For the missing letters, look back at past waypoint co-ords to find the letters and their corresponding numbers. N ___ ___* ___ ___. ___ ___ ___ .....B....Z.....G.....2.....1.....A....5 W ___ ___ ___* ___ ___.___ ___ ___ .....R....S....P.......P.....A....7....2....6 Final cache is in an ammo box. The reach the final you may have to pick your way through to the cache location. Please be kind to the local flora and fauna and use the original trail that is there. Just look, you will find it. No bushwacking should be needed but there may be blackberries. This cache is rarely found and the trail in not maintained, but is doable. Good luck!
