The Elves' Magnum Microcache Mystery Cache
The Leprechauns: Visiting Riverfront Park today, I was sad to see a big patch of dirt where the fun choo choo had stood. To cheer myself up, I placed a new cache nearby!

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
The cache is NOT located at the posted coordinates. This is an
offset cache with a unique twist.
Did you ever wonder how Global Positioning worked in the days prior
to satellites? Travel to Riverfront Park in Sewickley to find out
how the Romans did it. At the above coordinates, you will find a
Roman GPS. STAND ON JAN. You do not need to bring someone named
"Jan" with you. This reference will become clear once you arrive at
the posted coordinates. "Jan" is short for "Janus." Janus was not
only the Roman God of mutual funds, but also of navigation. Use the
Roman GPS to direct yourself to the object where the microcache was
hidden. Look between "IX" and "X" and sight the distant object
which is 425 feet away.
The microcache is hidden somewhere on that object. The cache
container is an altoids tin. It contains a logbook, pencil stub and
some small trade items such as coins. If you cannot locate the
object, decrypt the cheater hint.
Previously, this cache was called "The Elves Magnify a Microcache,"
and it used a sightseeing viewer to locate the object. The town
agreed with my opinion on the old version of the cache page that
the viewer was lame and served no purpose, because there are no
particularly scenic views to be had here. So, they removed the
viewer, and I updated the cache. But it is still basically the same
hunt, ending at the same container, so I am not making a separate
cache page or allowing second smileys for the reworked first
stage.
