Geocache Description:

***WARNING***
This area contains high bluffs, uneven ground, deep holes and downed fences. Be alert, especially with children, since you can get hurt.

This is another cache in the Packwood Trilogy. All together, these caches will take the afternoon and you will be very tired when you are done but you will see some of the sights that are here. You could easily spend several days up here wandering around finding neat stuff. I know 'cause I have. We have still left quite a bit for you to discover on your own.

In this part of the tour, we will NOT see the remnants of the Packwood house but rather, the estates of the inhabitants that Packwood brought to the land and where the Ground Sprites would enter their vacation hid-a-way.

To locate the portal first go to the location at the top of the page. When you arrive you will find a navigational tag used by out of town gnome navigators. My gnome guide was named Brenden. I think he was an Irish gnome navigator. Anyway, We will use it for the same thing. On this tag you will find a 4 digit number and some letters. This was the name of a popular Wood spirit hang out back "in the day". Everything on the tag is important but we will only use the letters. Count the letters.

To find the minute portion of the Latitude take that number of letters and multiply it by 2982. The checksum will be 15. Put the decimal in the proper place and that will be your north minutes. IE: N38 xx.xxx This will get you close enough but you can tweak the numbers a little if you want by adding 5 to this number before using it.

To find the minute portion of the Longitude take the number of letters and multiply it by 3379. The checksum is 26. Place the decimal in the proper place and this will be your west minutes. IE: 090 xx.xxx. No additional tweaking is necessary.

After you arrive at this new location, you will see a number of vertical concrete pillars. You should be at the corner of the structure. If you are not go to the corner. When you get HERE, you will know that you are HERE.

From this corner HERE, do your best Brenden the gnome navigator imitation and travel a bearing of 26 deg true for NO MORE than 400 feet.

You MUST be very careful in this area as this part of the trip is filled with PIT-falls. If you fall in you will travel to the center of the spirit world and you WILL NEVER get out (really).

When you find the largest of the underground portals, you have arrived. You can commence to looking for the cache. You will not need clues as the title tells all. There are plenty of tools in the area for replacing the cache exactly as you found it. A FLASHLIGHT might be useful.

The cache has the usual items in it including the logbook. Please replace these caches as you found them. We do NOT want to upset the people that still live here.

** NOTE: No gnomes, elves or spirits were harmed in the production of these caches. **

SOME POINTERS: ---> This area has dirt, rocks and all sorts of underworld creepy crawlers. Wet wipes, bug spray, hand towels, bandages, water and some snacks would be some really handy items. You will be tired, hot, itchy, dirty and hungry by the time you are done here.

NOTICE: Please be respectful of the posted park hours. If you enter the park after hours you are trespassing. If you are stopped you can be ticketed or arrested and will put the future of geocaching in the parks in jeopardy.
