Geocache Description:

This is a 5 part multi exploring some of the points of interest on the Federation Trail commemorating some of Adelaide’s early history.

I haven’t subjected you to all 16 points of interest, but you may wish to get the leaflet from the Bay Discovery Centre before you start for some more information. All calculations are on the decimal side of the coordinates, so if you had to add 100 to the current latitude it would become 34 58.328. If it says add ABC to something, they are all single digits. All calculations are from the current calculated location, not the starting point. Total driving distance is about 11km, you can drive to all of the sites and park (if lucky) within 30 metres of the final cache location. Cache is a standard camo lunchbox. 1) This park has a multitude of signs. Find the one commemorating the printing office, and subtract the year on line 2 from the year on line 11. Multiply this number by 6 and add to the latitude (the thousandths of course). John Hector gave this land in year ABCD. Take the numbers ACD as your new three digit number and subtract 1 from it. Divide by 1000 and take this off the longitude. 2) There is a plaque inside the gate. Note this place is shut after 10:30pm. What year did he cease being mayor = ABCD. New latitude = 35 0A.0AB. How old was he when he died? Double this number and add to the longitude. 3) Look at the 3 councils mentioned on the plaque. Note that I have counted the "City of ...." as the first council. Thanks Team Stargazer for pointing out this possible confusion. What day of the month was the last mentioned council proclaimed? What about the first? The difference between these 2 numbers needs to be added to the latitude. What day of the month was the second mentioned council proclaimed = E. What number month of the year was the first council proclaimed = F. What is the last digit of the first council year = G. Take EFG off the longitude. 4) How many members of the following families are commemorated? H = Tillbrook J = Lake K = Laundy Latitude = current + J.KHJ Longitude = current + 0.H(H+K)H 5) You are within walking distance from here (but you can drive if you like). Look at the difference between the number of years the son lived here and take 16 off this number. Subtract this from the latitude. The house was restored in which year? And what year would the first resident have turned 5? Take the difference between these 2 numbers off the longitude. Checksum of decimals... S=12 E15 Spoiler photo in gallery.
