THIS CACHE REPLACES OUR ORIGINAL ONE “WHERE EAGLES SOAR”, AT THIS LOCATION.
IT WAS REMOVED BY PERSONS UNKNOWN.
THE ORIGINAL CACHE WAS OUR SECOND AND WAS PUT IN PLACE ON THE 21ST OF APRIL 2001.
WE WERE ADVISED ON THE 5TH OF DECEMBER THAT THE ORIGINAL CACHE WAS APPARENTLY MISSING, SO ON THE 7TH OF DECEMBER WE VISITED THE SITE AND CONFIRMED THE CACHE HAD BEEN REMOVED.
WE CONSIDER THIS LOCATION, WITH ITS SPECTACULAR VISTA, TO BE EXCEPTIONAL.
THIS BELIEF HAS BEEN CONFIRMED, MANY TIMES OVER, BY THE VARIOUS CACHING VISITORS, SO WE DECIDED TO REPLACE THE CACHE TO CONTINUE ATTRACTING VISITORS TO THE SITE.
This becomes The Nomads' fifth cache. It was replaced on Sunday the 7th of December 2003.
The cache is in a white plastic bucket, covered by rocks. The cache is not visible, but its hiding place will be immediately obvious to the experienced observer. Please replace the coverage and ensure the cache is not visible to the casual visitor.
Park the car on the top of the hill at S37° 43.0596’ E144° 15.0228’ (WGS84), the cache is an easy 180 metre walk from there.
If you elect to take the direct route to the cache through the grass, wear sturdy shoes and good leg protection, as there are burrs in the grass, and perhaps the odd legless critter. It is possible to access the cache site by rock hopping or skirting the heavily grassed areas.
This site has a magnificent view. We found it in the late afternoon when we were treated to a family of three eagles soaring on the rising air out of the valley along the ridge to the NE of the cache location. On a warm sunny afternoon, afternoon tea on the rocks, with a pair of binoculars handy would be a pleasant way to spend an hour or so.
The cache can be accessed by country bitumen road from either the East or West.
Enjoy the hunt, and the view from the rocks.
