The parking access to this cache is located in NE Lake County near Cassia, off of Brantley Branch Road, off of SR 44.
The State Forest has a $1 per person day use fee.
There are two ways to get to this cache.
One way is to call the Division of Forestry at 352-360-6675 to get a day use permit and drive into the forest. Be sure to stop at the kiosk outside of the gate and pick up a map to take with you that will show you the various forest roads.
The better way to get there is to hike 2.4 miles one way on the orange blazed trail from the Brantley Branch Road entrance to the point on the coordinates. Start of Trail: From the FT sign in the pasture near to the fence, look (SE) for the closest group of oak trees, the orange blazes will be on trees and sign posts. When you come to a double blaze, this means to "be alert" for a change in trail direction. The trail is maintained once a year and can be easy or difficult depending on when it was last maintained. Take water, insect repellant, snack, hat, etc.
Be sure to adhere to all forest rules, practice the "leave no trace" principles, and check for ticks once you leave the forest. Do not attempt to locate the cache during the hunting season. Do not disturb the bears, snakes, alligators, cranes, pigs, coyotes, owls, etc. Please take a friend with you.
The clue is a must. Read it carefully. Take a compass. Have Fun in the forest.
