Geocache Description:

Going 20 years now! Glad to see folks are still enjoying this find! I LOVE reading all the posts made here!!! It fills my heart with Joy! If weather permiting, park off seasonal road N 44* 31.872 W 085* 24.834, then over the tracks and into the woods. If parking off the highway, add an additional 3/4 - 1 mile hike. If the difficulty ratings I set are too hard or easy, please advise.

Cache is an ammo box. It was updated on April 7th 2004. There is some interesting reading in the logbook. When I started this cache, the first log in my book was from a young man that had just been released from jail. He spoke of trying to get his life back on track and I really enjoyed reading his entry and hope that he was able to do so. I think the original log book got destroyed by water, but not sure. This cache is in honor of our troops around the world. Our men and women in uniform are responsible for keeping the freedom that we too often take for granted. This cache provides a nice pleasant easy walk in the woods. Upon retiring from the U.S. Air Force after 23 years, I moved back to northern Michigan in the fall of 2002. I worked a few years there for a government agency. I left Mich for better employment in 2007. I now work for a major aircraft manufacture and work with the military. I left the cache for others to enjoy and hopefully will make it back occasionally while fishing and hunting in that area to check it out and provide updates. I really enjoy reading the posts from those who seek out this cache and appreciate those that are keeping it alive. If you are searching for this cache, MAYBE TAKE ALONG A SMALL NEW LOGBOOK AND PENCIL in case the others are full. Thank you! Oct 2013: I am happy that others are still enjoying this cache. I am currently living in Norway working with the Nowegian Air Force. Thinking that I will do some cacheing here in this beautiful country and place a nice one here for others. 2017: My Norway tour, unfortunately, came to an end. I really enjoyed this beautiful country and made many wonderful friends. I find myself now in Qatar working with one of our customers here. What a drastic change in environments! Hoping for retirement after this tour. I have been away for a long time now and cannot wait to get back, sit down in the forest, and read all the logs from those that have searched out this cache. PLEASE keep it alive!!! July 2019: Still working in Qatar. This country is mostly dirt and sand, but the city of Doha has some pretty sites and many 5 star hotels/restaurants. Doha is quickly changing as they prepare for the 2022 World Cup with a new subway going in and many other construction projects to include many green areas. It has been interesting working here. For those seeking out this cache, I would love to see some pictures posted of the area and cache. Please remember to add something to it to keep the interest up for others and maybe post some pictures of the contents. Thank you! 2021: I am retired now. I just saw that someone recently found it again. I don't know if I'll get back to this area again but am glad that it is still there for everyone to enjoy. 2023: As stated in 2021, I am retired and living in SW Japan with my Japanese wife. I have traveled the world and I find Japan to be quite enjoyable. However, I do miss Michigan. I still hope that I can travel back one day soon and revisit this cache. I cannot thank everyone enough for keeping this going! The last folks that found it (Aug 2023) left a nice log here with pics. Thank you!!!
