Very historic area, and the tower is a war memorial. Nice views at top of hill, The tower can be seen from miles around.
If you plan your trip on either Memorial Day or Veterans Day, you should find the tower open. Only those 2 days a year! Scenic area, but is a bit of a shady area. Lock your car up tight! I saw some evidence of the area being used as a paintball war zone, so watch out for seedy characters.
As this area is well traveled, please be sure to keep cache well hidded so it remains at the location. Cache is a German MG34 ammo can, and is filled with lots of trading goodies. Check out the web site for significant historical info!
