The Van Nuys airport is one of the busiest non-commercial
airports in the country. It was dedicated on December 17, 1929, on
the 25th anniversary of the first flight of man.
The viewing area has recently been redone and is now open to the
public. Here you will find a painted replica of the runway on the
ground, kiosks with lots of information about the airport, it's
history and various aircrafts, a speaker that is broadcasting what
is being said in the control tower, and a plaque about the
dedication of the airport.
I have increased the difficulty a bit because it is hard to find
where to enter from.
Log only so bring a pen.
Feb. 4, 2006. Changed location a bit to a
less used spot. Eventually I may move it outside the enclosed
area.
June 12, 2008. Moved again, still in the Observation area.
Jan. 7, 2009. Moved again
