Come and enjoy the pleasant trails in Westborough's Wildlife Management Area.
The Westborough Charm Bracelet is a network of footpaths linking the town's preserved open space, wildlife corridors, recreation areas, and neighborhoods. When completed, the main loop of the Charm Bracelet will be roughly 28.5 miles long and will climb more than 2,000 feet in elevation. The overall Charm Bracelet network will have close to 70 miles of trails in the Westborough area.
In 1901, the Worcester Consolidated Railway Company purchased Lake Chauncy Park with the intention of creating an entertaining country locale to which they could transport city folks for leisure. They opened a dance pavilion, restaurant and theatre on the shores of Lake Chauncy. Over the next twenty years bowling alleys, ball fields, and refreshment stands would be added making Lake Chauncy Park a noteworthy location for entertainment. In 1949, a fire started in the kitchen of the park's restaurant which soon spread, destroying most of the buildings within the park. Chauncy Park was never re-opened. While it is unlikely that Chauncy will every see another heyday like that of the early 20th century, it is still a prime location for boating, fishing and swimming here in town.
