A tiny, postage stamp size park in South Tacoma easily accessible to everyone.
This park was created a few years ago by several neighborhood organizations. It seems to commemorate everything "South Tacoma", all in one tiny park the size of your backyard. There is a monument to the first school in Fern Hill in 1888, there is a flagpole and plaque dedicated to Fern Hill veterans and a sign commemorating Washington Historical Road #1, Byrds Mill Rd, which was established in 1852 by the Oregon Territorial Legislature and was used as an escape route from the "Indian uprising" of 1855. The route is followed today by South 84th St. which passes by the park. Today there is an antique clock, a beautiful craftsman style pergola, benches and a brick plaza with the engraved names of donors. We had planned to use a traditional cache container for our first cache but couldn't resist placing a micro in this park, which is not far from the first house we owned. Hope you enjoy this neat little neighborhood park!
