Big Fella View - a lookout to Bogong which is supposedly aboriginal for "big fella". A fairly easy cache at a great spot. You can drive to this in a two wheel drive. Altitude is about 800m ASL.
This is my first cache so I hope you like the view. I grew up in this area and never tire of it. This is a popular spot on weekends and holidays so I increased the level of difficulty when I saw how many people were there the day after I placed it. It will be harder on weekends and holidays unless you are early (nice sunrise) or late in the day.
Local knowledge: If you have an hour and a half, a map/detailed GPS map (DiscAus will do) and a good 4x4 you can drive the ridge for some great scenery and interesting fourbie country to get to "Long Way to the Top" and then onto "The Whistle". This is steep country and you will average 10kmh but some has been recently dozed so as at 29/12/03 it is in good condition. Take a chainsaw if you don't want to get half way and have to turn back.
The first coordinates will lead you to a group of signs, plaque and a cairn.

Mt Buffalo is AXY3 metres above sea level.
Mt Bogong (Big Fella) is A98B metres ASL
The official road opening was A9 March 1896.
