Geocache Description:

Wonderful lake views and almost secret backroads

NOTE: This cache might be lost. Due to the current situation, I cannot travel to the cache site and, unless I hear a favorable report soon, I might need to disable it.

The name of the cache is inspired by one of my favorite movies about this area: a few miles from Bellagio, through a beautiful road that crosses the Ghisallo Pass and the cyclist sanctuary, lies Oggiono, a once sleepy Brianza village now thriving with productive and commercial activities. If you are Geocaching in this corner of the world, Oggiono is an ideal stop between the spectacular Missing Dimension (GCGYHN) and Dutch2 (GC64D1).

You can stop for coffee at downtown's Invidia & Cafe, shop for shoes at the Millepiedi or prepare to be dazzled by the amazing jewelry at Fasoli's.

The cache has a great view of the lake and potential for a long solitary hike in the woods, or down around the lake. On the way you can visit the main Church, Sant'Eufemia and the ancient Battistero from the XI Century. Sant'Eufemia is famous for the frescos by Marco D'Oggiono, who studied with Leonardo da Vinci in Milan, 1475. Parking and driving through the narrow streets might be the main challenge, and the one thing I cannot offer any help: good luck with that, I chose to walk.

Once you get to Sant'Eufemia, you should be able to find your way to the cache site. A spolier photo has been updated after the cache was kindly relocated by Deca88

From the cache site you can go down towards the lake either taking the right or the left branch of the trail, and hike at will around the lake with a stunning view of the surrounding mountains. The hike is accessible year round, watch for mud after rainstorms. A bikepath around the lake makes for an excellent tour of the area (mountain bike best, lots of unpaved or poorly paved sections)
