A short but steep hike to a viewpoint in the new Gateway Park, in the town of Cortland.
The trailhead can be found on Sproutbrook Road (41 18.817' 73 55.447') at the ball field parking lot. Start up blue trail across road and take the right (east) loop. Once at the viewpoint you can look down the Hudson Valley, taking note of the active gravel pit across the road, the garbage processing facility at Charles Point and the nuclear power plants at Indian Point, other than that it's a great view! Keep the kiddies in hand and take special care around the cache, as the approach is treacherous.
