Geocache Description:

A lovely little view atop a tiny rock summit. Park at Danforth Bay Camping Resort at the end of Shawtown Road off of Ossipee Lake Road. Hike up the snowmachine trail (woods road) to a major intersection. The trail to Mary’s Mt. is the hard left. The trail from here is short but very steep. Total distance to the summit from the parking lot is 0.8 mile with an elevation gain of just under 500 feet.

The cache is below the summit and starts out with: an Asimov’s magazine, mini microscope, Halloween figurine, abalone belt buckle, hair clips, watch, earplugs, a found cell phone, and an M&M tin. The not-so-hard left at the intersection will take you to Trout Pond, a pristine pond with no development on it’s shores. Organizations are hard at work raising money to buy all the surrounding land to keep it this way. There is a not-well-marked trail to Mary’s Mt. directly across from the parking area. I have come down this trail in the summertime, but never gone up it. So, a loop hike is possible; just be sure you have a compass;-) From the summit you can see the camp store, Danforth Pond, Green Mountain, and Ossipee Lake. If snows are deep, you might need a shovel....
