I have gone MAD, mad about geocaching, and this cache proves it! If you go looking for it then you’re mad too. The idea for this one occurred within the first 30 min of watching the movie, “It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World” (MGM, 1963). I said to the family that this reminds me of Corvallis geocaching households when a new cache shows up in town. At which point my son stated the name of this cache and I started taking notes!

You will have to do some homework and visit 3 locations to get this one. (Actually I never liked this style of cache but now I know how they happen.) You will have to watch the movie to get most of the numbers below and the clue. Most of it you can get in one early scene (about 22 min in) if you listen to Sid Caesar’s dialogue. (Don’t get too technical, just use his numbers.)
The final cache coordinates can be found at the start location. Use the hint below at each location. The 3 locations to visit, in this order, are:
Start location: N 44 33.879, W 123 15.233
Location 2: N BB AA.9A6, W 12A H.2D1
Location 3: N BB AA.96B, W JI JC.2B0
Watch the movie to get numbers for the letters below. Substitute in the numbers for the letters in the coordinates above to get the actual locations. Please be careful as you do not need to go onto or cross the road. A young woman on the OSU crew was run over here a few years ago and is part of the reason for the locations. Parking will be a problem. Best bet will be 1st street, west side of the river, and then walking over to the start location using the pedestrian walk on the south, Van Buren Street bridge. Be mindful of feeding parking meters even if you do not see any. Let me know if you have any problems. Good, mad, Luck.
