Geocache Description:

Welcome to OH-TX "West" a multi-part (2) Historical and a walk in the park cache.

Step 1. . Here you will find coordinates to step 2 (the cache). Do not go beyond the fence, NO FENCE climbing is required, stay in front of the marker. The coordinates are not hard to find if you’re in a position to read the marker, (which you are encouraged to do) and follow the hint for this step.
.
Step 2. 32 oz. round twist top container located here. You’ll have to leave the concrete path and do a little bushwhacking. Although, not far off the beaten path, this is a natural area so watch out for snakes, critters and those thorny vines.

Regarding step 1…you shouldn’t feel uneasy as long as you genuinely use the marker as intended. Read, learn, reflect on the past and respect the area. The fence “ensures that the site will not be impacted by people searching for the cache and unknowingly traveling over or through the site

I find it interesting that both Confederate veterans and slaves are believed buried there. Descendants estimate there were at least two hundred graves there. Only two head stones remain. I suspect they built the surrounding houses on top of some dead people! Not to worry, ...I understand that GHOSTS are friendly to Geo Cachers. The content from the historical marker establishes the OH-TX connection. GEOJEM-

The following is not information regarding this cache. I just wanted to note that this is a companion to the OH-TX "east" cache. Located in Columbus, Ohio at N 39º 54.392 W 082º 49.025. There are several similarities. Both are in parks with:

  • Paved walkways north and south of a creek.
  • Wild areas on both sides.
  • But the critters are less hostile there.
