Marko Ramius: Since there does not appear to have been any response to the logs posted to this cache page, I can only assume that the cache owner is either MIA or is not willing or able to perform normal maintenance on this listing. Accordingly, I am archiving the listing to remove it from search pages and to allow for new caches in this area. If you would like to correct the issues for this cache, you can either create a new cache page or send me an e-mail with the GCxxxx code for this cache listing and I will un-archive it and review it again.

Thank you for your understanding and for your contributions to Geocaching.

Geocache Description:

GeoSox among the Rocks first local cache was placed Jan 1, 2004, in our favorite local canyonland. Several caches are within a mile of this, so we scouted for an interesting space. We decided to place this along a beautiful and varied stretch of canyon, in earshot of running water, rustling leaves, and the occasional deer hoofing it amongst the brambles. You'll see palms, oaks, sycamores, prickley pear, and more. Regardless which way you approach this, take time to enjoy the scenery.

Parking is equally available at Canyonside Park or along Camino del Sur (former Ruiz) near the elementary school.

As with all natural areas, respect the weather, fall or spring, creatures that may bite or sting, plants with spikes or sticky pitch, those that hope to make you itch. Trails provide for horse and tire, those who cheat come under fire. Please don't squish spiders and ants, instead try out the Safety Dance. And one more thing as on I rant, pack trash out, don't say "I can't".

But seriously geo-folks, set aside an hour or so and do this on foot. I always feel de-stressed after this short walk through the Preserve. Be mindful of thorns, bee colonies, rattlesnakes, poison oak, bad puns, etc.

The 80's Cache is a clear 8" sq. Rubbermaid container, initially stocked with the custom-made GeoSox 80's Mix cd (check out the significance of the playlist), a Big 80's movie soundtrack, 3-d glasses, a disco-ball and pink train keychain, "Eclipse" notecard, Getty Museum postcards, double-vision postcards, spiderman and crayola candies, 2 USA flag stickers, "Don't Panic" button, mini-flashlight, neon tie-downs, stick pencil, quartz crystal, petrified wood, and Southwest air drink coupons.

This provided some practice for my idea of placing some "Music Caches" or Musical Multi-caches in the future. Waypoints will include lyric clues, i.e. "Take me to the River", hence the cd titles in the cache. Being an 80's music fan, the cache name developed. I'll prototype it next placement, meantime, I feel a hot wind, on my shoulder, and a touch of a world that is older.....
