Geocache Description:

Trogdor and I spotted the ruins on a road that was invisible before the fire. The coordinates are your key to spotting them. Then you must figure out how to get there.

Go to the given coordinates (park at N 34° 17.826 W 118° 40.818 on Evening Sky Drive off Yosemite). The coordinates are at a stream crossing on the Las Llajas road. Stop there and take a compass bearing 333 degrees magnetic. Up on the hillside you'll see the ruins of a building. Now you must figure out how to get there. I figured it out by triangulation then plotting on a USGS 7.5' map (Simi East). The road to the ruins shows up on topo maps, but the place to take off from Las Llajas is hard to spot unless you know where to look. The cache is a thin AOL CD can slipped between some rocks in the ruins. To get to the ruins from Las Llajas Rd. you'll climb about 300 feet and cross several places where the road has completely slidden into the valley below. Be careful so you don't do the same. I walked, but saw Mt. Bike tracks all the way--you'd have to carry the bike in some places. There is some interesting old mining equipment to be seen if you go farther up the road past the ruins. The road dead ends according to the map. Round trip is 5 miles if you don't go beyond the cache, but you might as well get Marrgate too while you're in the area!
