Te Mata Peak (Hawkes Bay) Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Growly Bear: As this cache has been out of action for too long, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

A nice walk through the Te Mata Peak reserve, in Havelock North.

Park your car in the lower carpark in the Te Mata Peak Reserve. There is a map at the entrance to the carpark to help you find your way.

Follow the "Nature Trail" around past the first Lookout, and down past the Young Redwoods. Keep following the trail up the next hill until you find the turn off to the viewing point, which is at the above co-ordinates.

The cache is a round 1.6 litre plastic container with a screw top lid, and is about 10 meters past the landmark dial.

If you have not been here before, I highly recommend you continue up to the top of Te Mata Peak. The lookout there gives you some great views of the Hawkes Bay.
