Geocache Description:

Here is your chance to test the accuracy of your GPSr. This cache is located near a Canadian Base Network Geodetic Survey Marker in London, Ontario. Thanks to Lynx1 and the Hunter and their Test Your GPS Conestogo: Pier 2 (GCB363) cache as well Hard Oiler and the Calibration Cache (GCH7A2) for the idea.

----- Maintenance Log March 14, 2016 -----
Wow, hard to believe it has been over 12 years since this was first hidden in January 2004. There have been a few changes around the cache site, not the least of which is a full interchange to the west at Highway 401 and Wonderland Road. Placed a new log and container tonight, this is cache container number 8.
*** Please remember to log your coordinates when you post your find, you are testing your GPS after all. ***
----- Update October 5, 2014 -----
Cache maintenance and a reminder to cachers that you are asked to log your GPS coordinates. The idea behind this cache is you are testing the accuracy of your GPSr.
----- Update June 4, 2011 -----
Replaced the container and refreshed the log.
----- Update April 4, 2009 -----
Replaced the container and rehid the cache. The container is what I would consider a micro-micro. Enjoy.
----- Update December 30, 2007 -----
Thanks to the cacher who found the Altoids tin - it is once again the cache container. Bring a pencil.
----- Update May 7, 2006 -----
Replaced the cache container and log book today. No longer an Altoids tin. Bring a writing implement, there was no room.
----- Update February 12, 2006 -----
Replaced the cache container and log book today. Relocated slightly to a (hopefully) drier location.
----- Update June 20, 2005 -----
Replaced the cache container and log book today. Altoid tins just aren't waterproof.
----- Update July 17, 2004 -----
Today I put log book, pencil and geocache note inside a zip lock bag inside a new camo painted Altoids tin. The tin is about the size of a deck of cards. There really isn't room for trade items, but if you feel the need please put them inside the zip lock. The tin is not water proof and items not in the zip lock will rust and paper will rot. Thanks.
----- End Update ---------------
The Survey Marker is located south of Highway 401 on Morrison Rd and is a steel bolt on top of a concrete pillar. The concrete pillar has a faded orange spray painted "1" on it. You can drive to within 15 meters of the pillar and park on the shoulder of Morrison Rd. CAUTION: DO NOT ACCESS THIS CACHE FROM HIGHWAY 401, use Scotland Dr or White Oak Rd to get to Morrison Rd.

When you find the survey marker let your GPSr sit for several minutes to get an accurate reading. You may find moving 10 to 15m away and then returning to the pillar gives you a different reading. While you are waiting search for the microcache: a small container. Log your best coordinates when you log your visit at geocaching.com

The closest reading with my Etrex Legend GPSr was N42 52.966 W081 15.061.
