NYE Party at Gunlock Traditional Cache
BlueRajah: I am archiving this cache to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. The reviewers requested the cache to be reviewed and no action was taken. If this was done in error please contact me immediately. This cache is West out of St George on old Hwy 91 on the way to Gunlock.
Take old highway 91 W out of St. George to the fork in the road that heads up to Gunlock Reservoir.(Right fork) Go North for about 3.6 miles to a parking area on the left side of the road. Park here and follow your heading up the dirt road (things are a bit confusing due to all the two-tracks) that comes over the bridge (2014 Bridge no longer there) and heads up the hill. Keep the #4 pump house on your right as you head up the road. You will eventually leave this road and bush-wack the rest of the way to the site. You will know the area when you reach an inclining rock formation.
We came out New Year's Eve, eve, 2006, replaced container and put some new fun things in. Have a good 2007!
We came back on NYE 2012 and reset the cache. Please note that the bridge had been washed out but our Explorer had no problem traversing the shallow creek. Happy 2013!
We came back again 12/26/2014. Replaced the container and put in he items. Happy New Year 2015
Fourteen years later and we have once again returned 1/4/2018. Cache was in good shape, we were another year older, probably not terribly wiser, but certainly happy to still be climbing around at Gunlock. Happy New Year.
However on Dec 9th 2018 we discovered a very interesting fact. Between the cache and the pump house there is now a sight that is fenced off and contains Indian petroglyphs. A very historic sight worth the trip itself Happy New Year 2019
