An exhilarating walk with spectacular views.
The Wainstones have been popular with rock climbers for many years. They are formed from very hard sandstone exposed by weathering. There was some quarrying here as well, not all of the jumble was down to weathering!
Looking over the Cleveland basin, from the path at the top,
You can see the sharp pointy top of Roseberry topping. Just to the left of it is the low expanse of the Eston hills with all the aerials.
On the right of it is the obelisk of Captain Cook’s monument.
Industrial Teesside is always easy to spot! but can you see the large hangers of Teesside Airport way over to the left??
Best parking is in one of the lay-bys at the top of the hill.N54 25.328 W1 07.123. or the big car park close by at N54 25.469 W1 07.154.
From the lay-by at the top of the hill, walk up the stone path to a stile, cross the stile and follow the stone and flagged path up the hill to the cache.
