Please join us February 7, 2004 at 11:00am at Saint Michael Lutheran Church, 132nd and Blondo Streets in Omaha.
This is the first general business meeting/membership meeting of the Nebraskache Geocaching Organization. Please come to adopt the bylaws, elect officers for the upcoming year and discuss ideas for upcoming Nebraskache events.
The formal organization of Nebraskache has been announced on the Nebraskache Yahoo Group, the Geocaching.com Great Plains forum, and the Get Lost (in) Nebraska web site forum. The Bylaws are posted on the Yahoo Group and the formal meeting notice can be viewed there as well.
The interim officers have offered the following slate for election to serve as the executive committee this upcoming year:
President: Jim Harper (Bigredmed)
President Elect: Justin Short (The Shorts)
Secretary/Treasurer: Carleen Pruess (Carleenp)
Member at Large: Troy Bryan (StarBrand)
Member at Large: Marcia Claesson (Ceiligirls)
Please review the formal meeting notice and Bylaws for information on nomination and voting procedures. Those who live 100 miles or more from the meeting site may vote by proxy.
Also on the agenda for the meeting is a discussion of the spring picnic and CITO, possibilities for events in Central and Western Nebraska, and the development of a logo.
The meeting is at Saint Michael Lutheran Church, 132nd and Blondo Streets in Omaha.
To get from I-80 to the meeting location, take I-80 to I-680 North. Then take I-680 to the Maple Street exit. Turn west onto Maple St, and go west to 132nd. At the intersection of 132nd and Maple Steets, turn south onto 132nd St. Continue south towards Blondo (about 1 mile). From the Southbound lane of 132nd street, there is a driveway into the church. There is a driveway from westbound Blondo as well. We will be meeting in the first floor (doors facing Blondo Street)
For a bit of fun, we will also be creating, and then holding a drawing for, a cache to hide. Nebraskache will supply an ammo can, log book, pencil, and caching letter. If you would like a chance to win the cache, bring a trade item or two with you to the meeting to donate to the cache. Everyone who donates a trade item gets a chance to win the cache.
Also note that Omaha has plenty of caches and various restaurants. So this is a great opportunity to hook up with some fellow cachers at the meeting for caching and lunch afterward.
