Fermyn Up Traditional Cache
Lactodorum: Rather than keep this cache temporarily disabled (which should only be used for shortish periods) I'm archiving it. If/when the cache is ever replaced I'll gladly unarchive it assuming it still meets the guidelines.

A traditional cache located close to a reasonably well made, push-chair friendly, footpath.
Fermyn Woods are ancient woodlands containing semi-natural oak and ash woods, along with conifer plantations. The woods were managed as coppices for many centuries, a practice that will begin again as the woods are converted to semi-natural broadleaf woodland under the 'Ancient Woodland Project'. Part of the Country Park, which includes a former ironstone quarry, is managed by Northamptonshire County Council. The Country Park has a large pay and display car park (recommended - N52 27.217 W000 35.978. Parking charges apply; £1 for up to 1 hour, £1.50 for up to 12 hours - we recommend you pay the extra 50p!), visitor centre and toilets. Refreshments are available when the Visitor Centre is open. Waymarked trails, including an all-ability access route leave from the visitor centre. The Fermyn Forest Walk takes visitors up into the woods. The wood has been mapped for orienteering, and leaflets are available from the visitor centre.
