Geocache Description:

Well sheltered short walk from the road by the lakeside.

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO REPLACE WHERE FOUND

The Cache can be reached from different starting points - we parked at N54.31.894, W003.15.405. The lake is serene and tranquil and one of the prettiest of the smaller lakes. There is a footpath encircling the lake, a 4 mile walk, but the cache is not too far from where we parked. You will need a torch and a 'leg up' unless you are very tall, although no element of danger involved - the greatest difficulty could be searching for and grabbing the cache when others are around. The tunnel was blasted through a rock outcrop by a Mr George Benson, who was the owner of nearby Hassness House in the 19th Century, in order that he would have an umimpeded walk as close to the shore as possible.
