Geocache Description:

This is the second cache in my Civilian Conservation Corps Camp series.

This cache is located at an old CCC camp that was established in the 1930's. I have been told by local people that this site was utilized by the units that began construction of Shores Lake. I was told that this site was demolished by the United States Forest Service in the late 1950's or early 1960's, when they abandoned most of the old CCC camps. This is a fairly easy site to locate and there are remains of old foundations, walkways and such to view. Just take Highway 215 North from Mulberry. The roads are paved except for the last few tenths of a mile. This area is not developed as CCC # 1 - Ozone is, so you will be creating your own paths. Spend some time, enjoy a piece of history and just explore this area. While you are in the area, you should visit George by the Lake, OHT #1, and several other caches in the general area. By the way, the cache is a .50 caliber ammo can and contained a log book, plastic frog, deck of cards, baseball, whistle, Travel Bug - Bear Bug #3 and such.
