Geocache Description:

This is the first cache in The Gambia

This cache was created at the end of a 3 week drive from UK to The Gambia in £100 cars on the Plymouth Dakar Challenge.
It was named after the very expensive 'Paris' Dakar Rally which is held every year and will cost any competitor tens of £1000s to complete. The 'Plymouth' Dakar on the other hand is a drive of 4000 miles in old cars that really should be dumped in a canal rather than driven across the Sahara desert at silly speeds.
To find out more,go to www.plymouth-dakar.co.uk

The cache is located in Fajara near Banjul.
If you have just finished an overland trip or travelled in less than luxurious transport to get here ,you will very much appreciate the location of this cache.
We arrived at this place at the end of 3 weeks of roughing it and everyone fell in love with its layed back, friendly atmosphere
When you get to the coordinates of the cache, ask for Maurice or Geri who will be very happy to see you and will give you the cache in person. They are ex-pat Brits who have lived and worked in the Gambia for many years and are very much involved with local charity work and will be only to happy to advise you on local issues, events and areas of interest.

When created,the cache contained:-
Heavy White shell found on a beach in Mauritania
20 Dirhams Note from Morocco
50 CEF Note from Senegal
100 Ouguiya Note from Mauritania
Sand from the Sahara Desert in Mauritania
