Geocache Description:

A long hike, but a gorgeous view at the top. Altitude is 1177. The best place to start is to park at N 34 54.733, W 120 37.176. Recommend you visit the related web site for the fascinating history of Point Sal. Please don't trespass on the Air Force Base, or they might shoot you.

The cache is a large ice cream tub, wrapped in black electrical tape, with the handle removed. We forgot to put a pen in, so could one of you bring an extra pen and leave it in there? Much appreciated.

The cache is at the top of the trail, but there's another side to the trail that leads down to a very secluded beach. If you want to make that trip, be prepared for a long hike back up. Round trip distance to the cache is about 4.75 miles, round trip to the beach is closer to 10 miles.

The trail used to be a road, but has been closed to vehicle traffic for a long time. Many people still ride horses and bikes up, but be prepared for quite a challenging ride on a bike. Enjoy!
