This park enjoys an ideal setting between a roaring river and a
little lazy creek. It is also filled with all sorts of deformed,
twisted, burled and old trees for your amusement and photo-taking
fun.
Logistically, it sports the typical one-way parking loop with
picnic areas, a ball field, volleyball, horseshoes, etc., and
overnight camping.
It also can get extremely busy in good weather and most of the
areas near the river are well explored by kids and fishermen.
With this in mind, in order to help this cache have a long life,
we reluctantly had to make the hide far from any of the scenic
areas near the water.
Our recommendation: Park in a spot as soon as you can upon
entering the park. Yes, your GPS will want you to go one way, but
DO take the time to walk the entire loop, first along the river,
then cross over to the campsites and the creek. You'll see some
great scenery and nice little waterfalls if you do!
This route will, in just a short time, take you not only right
past the cache location, but also loop you straight back to your
car, all the while seranading you with a rush and gurgle of
water.
Summertime will cost you a parking fee.
Park hours are:
6 a.m. to 10 p.m., May through September
6 a.m. to 6 p.m., October through April
You might think about hunting this one after hours, but be
forewarned that there IS an on-site caretaker, so we wouldn't
recommend it.
