Near Hawk Mountain and just off the Appalacian Trail.
This cache is North of Hickory Flats and South of Hawk Mountain. You can gather up an easy five caches in a day if you know the Forest Service roads and where to park. Or you can take a very nice walk on the A.T. on a week-end and enjoy one of the most wonderful part of our great state. The Forest Service roads are passable for anything that is not low to the ground. I suggest you don't drive your son's hip-hop car. Some spots have ice across the road and won't melt until we have several days of over 50 degree weather. The elevation at the cache is about 3280 asl.

If you go in the winter the temps. in the mountains run about 5 to 10 degrees lower then Atlanta so plan for it. As always in this part of the mountains watch for the Hummers from the U.S.Army Ranger's camp because the roads are one lane in most places.
