Wayland 6.0 - Center of the Universe
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This two part cache begins at the center of the universe (Downtown
Boston) and ends in a classic hiding spot somewhere in Wayland - a
suburb fifteen miles to the west. I had originally wanted to make
this a regular cache, but there is no place to hide a suitable
container with buttons at the center of the universe!
The posted coordinates are not the location of the first stage.
They are the location of the nearest major intersection, which is
within 1/4 mile of the first stage. With a little research on the
internet you should be able to pinpoint it.
Once you find the center of the universe, find the red fire alarm
call box approximately five steps to the N-NW. On the front of the
box you'll find a number - white digits on a 1" tall black plastic
tag. Use this number to determine the location of the final
cache..
Add the first three digits to the decimal portion of N42 19.794 to
get the latitude of the final cache.
Add the last three digits to the decimal portion of W71 22.505 to
get the longitude of the final cache.
(NOTE : At times, outside of business hours and when it's extremely
cold, there may be a security gate obscuring the center of the
universe and you will only be able to see the edge of it. You'll
know you're in the right place if you look ten feet to the south
(right) and see two payphones with yellow receivers.)
TRAIL
Dogs are welcome at the final cache location. The nearby area is a
little swampy. BRING BUG SPRAY!
FINAL CACHE
Space is limited in the cache container.
BRING YOUR OWN PENCIL.
Depending on how many buttons are in the cache, the King Pong
Travel Bug may not fit.
Please feel free to take a finder's button. No need to leave
anything in trade, but if you feel compelled you can leave a
Sacajawea or Suzy B. for Cache'N'Carry's children's college fund.
