The cache is a metal ammo can (10” long x 3 ½” wide x 7” high). The cache is lightly covered with leaves and the additional hint items.
The cache initially contains: Log, pencil, pencil sharpener, Afghanistan bills, and miscellaneous pocket toys.
This section of the Uwharrie National Forrest is open to the public all-year-round, and has primitive camping sites within it. Some of the sites are accessible by vehicle, others require hiking to get to.
A parking lot near this cache is located next to NC Highway 24/27, and is approximately one mile East (on NC 24/27) of the Uwharrie Sportsman gas station and intersection of NC 24/27 and River Rd.
National Forrest parking lot: N35°18.652' W080°02.603' The cache site is located approximately 737 meters ENE from this parking lot.
The cache is located just off the Dutchman's Creek Trail.
The Dutchman's Creek Trail is marked periodically by yellow dots that are spray painted on trees and rocks along the trail. It is easy to get off the trail, so stay alert for the trail markers.
Use common sense and probe the site before reaching in to get the can during warm and hot months to ensure there are not any unwanted creatures (snakes, spiders, et al) in with the cache. Happy Hunting!
