Geocache Description:

A 50 cal ammo can hidden along the Briar Patch Trail in the Bethel Bicycle area of Desoto National Forest.

Same trail, same container as the original Briar Patch Cache, but in a different year and slightly different location. We moved it to get it out of some dense brush. And now post-Katrina, it's been slightly moved again, to the other side of the trail at the same location. No need to go bushwhacking -- the cache can easily be reached from the edge of the trail!

You can find maps to the bicycle trailhead and of the trails at (visit link) Once there, follow Briar Patch trail (starts ~50' to the right of the start of Couch Trail) for a mile or so in. It's all brushy area, so don't try to bushwack straight in -- it's called "The Briar Patch" for a reason! Just stay on the trail – it’s less than 3 miles total, and the cache is almost exactly half way through.

If you continue down the Briar Patch trail, it crosses the Couch trail, and there are several more caches to find along it, and other trails it connects into. Mountain bike suggested, but it is possible to hike to all these caches in one afternoon. Bring water, you'll need it.
