Geocache Description:

The Posted Coordinates are not the actual coordinates. Use the 12 picture pieces below and see if you can piece together the coordinates. Cache is near paved trail. Initial terrain can be difficult depending on where you enter.

The Deep River Friends Meeting House located approximately 1.5 miles west of here is the theme of this cache. The Deep River Friends Meeting in existence today is now 250 years old and the current building in use now is almost 130 years old. The pioneers of this country settled here in search of religious freedom. Freedom though is not always free as these Quakers were to find out during the Revolutionary War. The Quakers tried to pursue a peaceful life and stay uninvolved with the War. It was probably because of this in 1781, with one of the most important battles of the American Revolution looming at hand, British General Lord Charles Cornwallis encamped around the Deep River Friends Meeting House. Although the Quakers were technically trying to remain neutral they suffered persecution from the local inhabitants and it is estimated that more than three fourths of them left the area when other parts of the country began to open up for settlement. The contributions of the ones that stayed behind along with all of the others that passed this way are an important historical cornerstone of our community.

Round Rust colored plastic jar container 6”x6” Should plan on smaller items for trade in this one. It would be nice to trade Quaker related items although not a necessity.
