In 1835, the town of Pondalassa, Alabama was named the seat of
Coosa County, Alabama. Since the name Pondalassa was not a suitable
name for a county seat, that same year the name of the town was
changed. This town was built on the site of an ancient Creek Indian
village, 13 miles from the highest point in central Alabama.
Because of the rocky river country, the town changed its name to
Rockford, Alabama.
This is a historic and forgotten part of Rockford, Alabama. There
are a lot of stories here and a lot of forgotten memories. Come
stroll the cemetery and pay your respects to the people of
Rockford. The cache is a small container containing a log book.
Bring your own pen. Enjoy your hunt!
