Geocache Description:

Along the southern hike/bike trail in Fort Parker State Park.

Take the old bridge entrance and park by the dam. Admission to the park is required to park at the trailhead.

This trail skirts the southern side of the lake. It weaves around lots of cedar, oak and elm trees among others. The birding possibilities are endless. You will see Loons (not just fellow geocachers), ducks, geese, grebes, and even huge American White Pelicans. There is even a Blue Heron rookery along this shoreline. It is a large tree with over 30 Blue Heron nests in it. You can get a good look at it if you walk to the overlook on the nature trail on the other side of the lake and look across.

The cache is about halfway between the trailhead and the primitive campsites at the end of the trail. Walk or bike the whole thing-about 2.5 miles.

Restricted hours Fee area $ 3.00
