Geocache Description:

This cache is back up and running. Finally made it back to the spot on a day that proved that jeans and t-shirt aren't water proof but humans are!

Coords are for a large bolder 10' from a cave entrance. Cache is in the cave, take a flashlight! Several ways to access this cache.(1) Take Rt.27 from Rt.6 at Pittsfield, Pa. Drive 2.7 mi. to a small concrete bridge, turn right at end of bridge.(Blue-Eye creek). Drive to State game lands parking lot at end of the road. From the parking lot, either hike West to the top of the ridge (shorter), or follow the grassy road on the other side of the gate (easier walk). (2) Park on Rt.426, and tackle the hill(short but STEEP). (3) Follow Rt.27 to Rt. 426, drive 2.3 mi. on 426 to the SGL parking lot @ N41°50.425, W 079°28.238.(There is another parking lot 100 yds. farther down the road in the winter if this one is plowed in). Long (3 mi.)pleasant walk on grassy road. Either way will leave you with a great view of the valley before a final 100 yards of bushwhacking to the cache. Check out the 'chimney' at the back of the cave...it comes out on top!
2/14/05 Edit: Decided to edit for some history...After finding the cache, if you bushwhack along the ridge towards parking option #3, you'll cross an old 'quarry'. There was a double rail and cable system that ran from the ridge down to the valley on the Rt. 426 side. The large rocks were cut into use able blocks and loaded onto a rail car which, when released, would pull the empty car back up from the valley. Many of the stone bridge abuttments and such in the area were built from the rocks cut in this quarry.
