Geocache Description:

A short hike on a clear trail through the woods. You'll find this is an excellent first find if you're new to Geocaching.

The Lake Rosemary Refuge Nature Trail is pretty close to where I live, so it seemed like the ideal spot for my first cache.

Park at N34 46.004 W86 44.985. There WAS a sign by the road (see photo). Don’t drive past the gravel if it’s wet. Enter the woods at the “Trail Entrance” sign, on the south side of the parking area. Don't follow the dirt road along side of the woods. The Terrain difficulty increases in proportion to how recently it rained :-)

Many thanks to BSA Troop 8. They made great improvements to the parking area so you don't have to worry about the mud anymore - and Madison County District 4 dropped off a bit of asphalt so you won't have to worry about the curb.

The distance to this cache is less than a tenth of a mile.

I helped my cohort, 360degrees, placed another one close by ( GCHK7A ). Now there are four or five in the area. If you try for other caches, go for mine first. Just past it is a bridge the Boy Scouts built that'll get you to the other caches quicker - or continue past the bridge and you will be on a loop and you'll end up crossing all three bridges. In any case, stay on the trail and you’ll stay high & dry.

Remember it's the Lake Rosemary’s Refuge. CITO!

The actual Lake Rosemary is one half mile north of where you park – watch out for low-flying geese!

The cache is about 50 feet off the trail and is a 3 gallon cooler, so large booty can be traded. It’s too big to miss, but look for bark-o-flage.
