Lee State Natural Area is a gateway to the Lynches River, a designated state scenic river. The park encompasses 2,839 acres of diverse habitat that includes a vast hardwood floodplain forest, numerous artesian springs, a millpond and sandhills. Visitor amenities include a campground, nature trails, equestrian facilities and picnic area.
The park was originally built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, a New Deal program created by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to help young men learn new skills and provide jobs.
This cache is located on a part of the Floodplain Trail. The trail is not well marked. You will hike about three-tenths of a mile one way. The coordinates for where you will need to start your search are:
N 34° 11.639 W 080° 10.917.
After a short journey further into the swamp, the trail will fork. The coordinates at this point are:
N 34° 11.709 W 080° 11.101
You will need to trust your instincts and your GPS to decide which direction to head at this point.
If you chose the correct path, you will eventually come to what appears to be the end of the trail. The coordinates for this point are:
N 34° 11.698 W 080° 11.130
Although it appears to be the end, you must continue further into the swamp to claim your prize. There is no need to bushwhack at this point as it is relatively easy to manuever through this area without disturbing the plant life.
After a short walk, you will be in the vicinity of the cache. The cache is a standard ammo box with the following initial contents:

From the right angle, the cache is actually in plain sight. Finding the cache is pretty easy. Getting to the cache is the hard part.
Good balance is essential in reaching this cache.
