Start of The Old Trail Traditional Cache
MulderNScully: This oldie is a casualty of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan which includes the removal of 6 miles of the Old Tamiami Trail road. It is sad to see it go but it is great for the restoration of The Everglades!

Cache is a small tupperware painted green and black cammo colors.
This is a slice of South Florida heaven, hidden from the masses. Just about as off the beaten track as you can get without an airboat. You’ll want to come equipped with bug spray.
At the water crossing, stop for a while. We guarantee you will be startled by the natural beauty. Bring a camera – this is what South Florida is all about. It’s a great location to take the out of town visitors.
The cache itself isn't terribly hard to find - getting to it may prove to be a challenge. Think sneaky and keep in mind that not all roads in South Florida have always existed in the form they are in today.
Some cautionary notes:
You can not get to the cache by car. But you can bike in from the west.
You can go there at night, but we don't recommend it. Some unsavory types might be around - varying from the rowdy kinds that leave trash to the hungry kinds that gobble fish from the deep dark water.
If we are in an especially dry season or we are under fire warning and there is dry brush, we have to insist that you park at N 25° 45.658 W 80° 42.298
