S/S Ada Gorthon av Helsingborg i Sverige förliste den 22/6 1942 efter torpedering av en rysk ubåt ca 2 distansminuter rakt utanför Bläsinge fiskehamn vid Ölands östkust. 14 man omkom medan 8 man lyckades rädda sig på en livflotte, då det 88 m långa malmlastade fartyget sjönk på några sekunder. Vid Bläsinge fiskehamn finns idag en minnesten som har rests till de omkomnas minne.

S/S Ada Gorthon from Helsingborg in Sweden sunk June 22 1942 after torpedoing by a Russian submarine approx 2 nautical miles east from Bläsinge fishing harbor at the east coast of Öland. 14 crewmen drowned but 8 men was able to save themselves on a life raft, when the 88 m long cargo ship, loaded with iron ore , sank in a couple of seconds. Today a memorial stone is raised to the victims' memory close to Bläsinge fishing harbor.
