Geocache Description:

Located on the County Road off Route 2 in Milford, travel 8 miles on the County Road until you reach the Johnson Brook parking area/trailhead on the left.


Want a walk on the wild side…well find this geocache and enjoy the wildlife along the way. Sunkhaze Meadows National Wildlife Refuge boasts of black bears, coyotes, river otters, fisher, moose and many species of birds. If you have time after finding the cache enjoy walking the trails and visit the peatland. The bog itself is the second largest peatland in Maine with some peat deposits reaching depths of 15 feet or more. Please take note that hunting is allowed on this refuge, so take the necessary precautions during hunting season.

The cache is an ammo box and contains a travel bug, a leaf stamp, Christmas ornaments and brochures on the Refuge and applications if you would like to join Friends of Sunkhaze.
