Geocache Description:

The Beaverton Travel Bug Lounge welcomes travel bugs to kick back and rest for awhile. It lives in a beautiful park setting which should be a great spot for both travelers and cachers to visit. NOTE AS OF APRIL 17, '05: The new location hides the cache better, but may play havoc with your GPRr's ability to see, hence the increased difficulty rating. You may post hints in your log which improve upon on my own... just encrypt them, thanks.

You could do a cache-and-dash to this one, but in this case, doing so would be missing the point. Take the extra time to appreciate this park which I hope qualifies for some good "Wow, I didn't know THIS was here!" reactions from at least a few folks. :)

There is much to discover here. This woodsy park is just under a half mile long, with trails criss-crossing everywhere. You can claim one bonus point each for yourself (in addition to finding the cache) IF you happen to run into (a) the truly weird hollow tree (b) the miniature duck pond (c) the unusually straight row of stumps which could make for an interesting group photo op, picnic spot, etc. What other interesting features of this park can YOU find? Take a pic with some fun poses and post 'em here! :-)

RULES OF THIS CACHE:
1. Only take bugs whose goals you can actually help. Please leave behind any travel bugs whose goals are not compatible with your short-term travel plans.

2. Each cacher cannot take more than 2 bugs from per visit, unless you leave more. The amount you put in is unlimited.

3. Non-bug trade items are OK. However if the trade items start to overwhelm the space a bit, please do the cache a favor and take away some of the excessive non-bug items.

4. Please respect all travel bugs by NEVER posting the bug's tag number in your logs. That includes any pictures you upload. Otherwise it invites mischievous vandals to abuse the TB's tracking number. The cache owner will give the offending cacher at least one day to fix the problem after an email warning - then the log WILL be deleted if not properly edited by the cacher. Thanks.

I have been to too many TB hotels where they have that unwieldy "always keep x number of bugs in this cache" rule. This risks some poor traveler not being helped and going stagnant because a cacher does not have a bug to exchange. So this cache has no such limit, even though it does have a limit on how much you can take. This forum thread describes the whole problem, with support for sensible TB hotel rules as spoken by Jeremy Irish. Thanks, Jeremy! :)

Incidentally, a letterbox is hiding around N 45° 27.677 / W 122° 49.192. If you visit it, please respect the letterboxers (they are a separate group) and do not add or take anything from their container.

NOTE from 3-28-04: I really should post my TB Mission Card PDF for folks to use. It's been around for awhile, and this would be a good page to place a link. This is not related to the TB Protection Kits, but it's useful in it's own way. Check it out here.

NOTE 6/2/07: At Sparrowhawk's request, I, Zero10one, have adopted this cache. I hope to keep it up to the high standards that Sparrowhawk has established.

NOTE 2/16/08: new clue. the old clue path is currently covered by downed trees. The new clue path starts NW of the cache. Note that the park district occasionally marks trees for various reasons with 1 inch ribbon. For the clue, I have used smaller 1/4 inch ribbon.

For a clue to the location, see the picture in the 2010 March 21st log entry.
