Geocache Description:

From the cache site you can look down and see highway 16 as well as the ghost town of Oreville. The last of the Oreville ruins, a refining mill for beryllium, was torn down and removed in 1999.

The cache is approximately 5 miles south of Hill City, SD, near Oreville Campground, and the Mickelson Trail. We suggest parking at N43degrees 52.429, W103degrees 36.966. Following your GPS will make this cache more difficult than need be. Instead, choosing a less direct route will allow you to move about easier. As you get nearer please watch your step as watching the GPS could lead you on a surprising trip.

The cache is a rubbermaid container with a white lid. The original contents include the following: Zoo Animal Figurines, Yo-Yo, Shoestrings, Letter Opener, Mini Tape Measurer, Carabiner Keychain, Magnetic Flag, and Crayola Markers.

We recently upgraded the difficulty rating of our cache due to several complaints. This is not a cache for small children and may require additional climbing gear. We feel that special or climbing equipment is not necessary for this cache. However we are used to scrambling up and down rock faces in the hills, and we have become used to it. If you are uncomfortable with heights, or don't live well on the edge, this may not be the cache for you. The best advice that we can give is to tread cautiously and to be careful!
