Geocache Description:

This place has changed names several times, as has the town. It has gone by IOOF (Tumalo), Laidlaw, Laidlaw Odd Fellows, or as of today, Tumalo Pioneer Cemetery. The cache is a "mini" cache - a little bigger than a micro, but smaller than an ammo box.

The listed coordinates will bring you to the front gate of this quite resting place. It was established in the early 1900's and has quite a variety of stones and inscriptions. Somewhere within you will find the answers you seek.

The final cache location is: 44 0E.ECD 121 AA.AAB

  1. Your first task is to find the Caffeinated Chukar.  Take the year Jack was born and subtract one.  Your first task is to find the "Squirrel Crossing". What year was Arlene born? That answer is AAAA.  (Note:  bonus points if you can still find Squirrel Crossing)
  2. Next you need to find how to "Make the Angels Smile." The last digit of the month of birth is B.
  3. Find the inspirational quotation on the headstone of Clara Louise Kregel (1921-1990). C is the number of letters in the first two words and D is the number of letters in the last two words of the quotation. (Don't count spaces!)
  4. Finally, find Flower and Thumper's friend. How many years old was Ida? That would be EE.

That should get you close, so now search carefully and respectfully. Keep an eye out for wild deer and rabbits. The cache originally contained a First-Finders certificate, a pocket knife, collapsible pliers, swim passes, a tiny sailboat, a Christmas tree, and a postage stamp trading envelope. Feel free to trade US or foreign stamps. If you take a couple, be sure to leave some in return. Enjoy the hunt!
