Located in the Cedar Creek Canyon in Petit Jean State Park, this cache is only a short walk from the base of the park’s crown jewel, Cedar Falls. If you’ve never seen Cedar Falls from its base, you’re in for a treat. The view from below of the falls plunging 95 feet into the canyon is awesome! And if you’ve been here before, this cache gives you an excellent reason to return!
Hiking distance is about 2 miles roundtrip and the ascent back out of the canyon is steep, so bring plenty of drinking water and take your time. Please note that the park trails close at dusk, in accordance with state park regulations. Do NOT start your search if you cannot be off the trail by nightfall and do NOT search at night.
The cache is a regular size metal box, containing a logbook, pen, and lots of trade items. The cache also contains partial coordinates for the Cedar Creek cache (GCHQB4). The rest of the coordinates are in another cache, Off the Beaten Path (GC8CD). Since you’re already down in the canyon, you might as well go after these other two caches!
When you find this cache please take note how it is hidden and replace it back as you found it so those following you may experience the same challenge. When logging your find on the website, the more you write in the cache log, the more the owner is repaid for their efforts to place the cache.
