the cache is small and black. this is an 'urban micro' if you feel uncomfortable searching with eyes on you then youd better skip it!
HISTORY
Years ago on chincoteague island the locals regarded each area of the island almost like a seperate town. areas included madcalf, ticktown, up-the-neck, deep hole, and many others. chincoteague's ridge road was no exception. at the north end of the road was the area known as
'rattlesnake ridge', named for the crooked winding sections of road, the name can actually be found on some of the area deeds. in the middle was 'snotty ridge' allegedly named for the 'snotty' people in the area. at the south end was 'blood field'. the entrance to blood field is only about a hundred feet from this cache. look to the old block building, diagonally across the street, known around these parts as the old barber shop. thats where the seperating gate was, years ago. some local boys say it was called blood field because of rowdy drunks in the area causing bloody brawls on a regular basis, others say they just don't know. this cache is located on private property by permission.
aside from learning town history you have to meet tyrone. he is a chincoteague original!
note: the employees and owners of the cache location are 'in on it'. if you ask for help they are more than willing to give you some.
