The cache can be found near the end of a 3 mile circular walk (travelling anticlockwise as detailed below). The area is popular with locals, especially dog owners. It should take between 1.25-1.75 hours to complete. The route includes country footpaths, the S.W. Coastal Path and country lanes. For the Coastal Path bit, children and dogs should be kept on a short lead, as the cliff edge is close by. Part of the route may be muddy. It is best to follow the route on O.S. Explorer 126 or 139 maps.
Park your car by the side of the dead end road, just before Abbotsham Court N 51 01 452 W 04 15 533, and follow the well marked footpaths towards the sea. On a clear day you will have a good view of Lundy. When you meet the Coastal Path, turn left and walk along it in a S.W. direction. This is where you need to keep tight control of children and dogs. Walk past Abbotsham Cliff and on to Green Cliff. At Green Cliff (1.3 miles from your car) leave the Coastal Path by turning left onto another footpath, signed Abbotsham. It can be muddy around here. After a while, the footpath ends at a farm entrance. Follow the road from here towards Abbotsham, past a group of buildings known as Rixlade. Take the next footpath on the left (2.0 miles from your car). You will need your G.P.S. from hereon. As you get close, keep noise to a minimum, because although this is generally an isolated area, there is a house not too far away. The cache is a 2L container inside a green bag, hidden under stones approx. 10m from the path. Having found the cache, follow the footpath down to the road. At this point (2.5m from your car), check out the unusual benchmark on top of the bridge. Now turn left and follow the road N.W. to get back to your startpoint.
