Near a hiking shelter in Blackwater State Forest. Container is fireproof, stormproof, waterproof and theftproof.
This cache is located near one of my favorite spots in Blackwater. Take 191 north out of Milton to the Munson crossroads, turn right and go a few miles to Old Martin Road and turn right again. Go about a half mile to a dirt road and go right one more time. You may park here and hike to the cache, or you may take this dirt road to the yellow gate and walk from there. You may also hike the Jackson Ground trail from the east or west to approach this cache. There is a hiking shelter nearby with a picnic table and a fire pit, so you may camp overnight or have a cookout.
The cache is located in a clearing that is in the center of a triangle formed by the Jackson Trail, the forestry road and the road that leads to the hiking shelter. The cache container is rather large because it is made out of cinder blocks. It is too heavy to move, so don't bother. You will need moderate strength to remove the lid, and strong hands or a pair of pliers to open each of the two vaults inside. One vault contains the trade items, the other vault contains the log book and a pencil. Please tighten each vault so they remain waterproof, and replace the lid before you leave.
